"A deadly new disease is ravaging the world, turning the populace into mindless zombies, and the number of infected is skyrocketing by the second. As their fellow classmates and teachers succumb to the infection around them, a small group of students at Fujimi High School are fighting for their lives after surviving the initial outbreak. It is up to Takashi Komuro to unite the group of weary survivors and try to escape the horrors that surround them. In this new world of the living dead…will they escape? High School of the Dead is by Director Tetsuro Araki (Deathnote, Black Lagoon), animated by studio MADHOUSE and adapted from the highly successful manga of the same name by Daisuke Sato." - www.madman.com
What can I say about this? Anime + Zombie Apocalypse = Amazing
At first I wasn't to sure about this, it was either going to be really good, or really really bad. Plus the name almost turned me off, but I forced myself to try and watch it. It took me a while to finally find a site that I was able to watch it. After a bit I went to youtube, searched and searched, found a video and saw Anime44 in the corner. So after finally finding it I started watching.
The first episode of the series starts out with the zombies doing what they do best, eating and terrorizing the living. The whole world turns into a massive war as the few survivors are trying to stay alive all they can, while others go completely crazy. Only 9 episodes are out right now and there are a few gaps I am seeing. Like how I really want to know why Rei doesn't like a teacher named Mr. Shido in episode 3, I'm thinking it has to do something with why she had to flunk a grade. Hopefully it will be said soon.
My favorite character is Kouta Hirano. He is first shown with a sweet, kid like character, but once he gets his hands on a gun he has a war face on. But his sweet character shows up again in episode 8 when a little girl is in trouble. Also in that episode is that he gets nose bleeds because all the girls had to swear skimpy clothes because the other clothes were in the laundry, which is the funniest thing ever!
Everyone knows those Zombie Apocolypse jokes right? Well in episode 1 there was a sceen that just fit: "I consider you my closest friend, but if theres a Zombie Apocalypse I'm tripping you." Its one of my favorite scenes in the series so far! It wasn't meant to be funny, but when I saw it I could help but think of the joke.
So in all I give this a 9/10 so far and will put it on my Must Watch List. The recommended age is 15, but I've watched it and I say its a good age.
